Julia Kontos, M.S.
Julia Kontos is a biosafety professional with over 5 years of experience. She currently serves as Assistant Biosafety Officer at a university, where she manages the review of biological registrations, which includes recombinant/synthetic DNA, infectious agents, and general biological registrations. In this role, she supports over 900 Principal Investigators in maintaining compliance with biosafety standards and regulations.

Prior to her role here, Julia worked at a biodefense facility, where she supported biodefense and forensic attribution capabilities for national security agencies. At this facility, she specialized in developing and delivering hands-on trainings for laboratory staff working at BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4.

Julia graduated cum laude from Loyola University Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and received a Master of Science in Biotechnology with a concentration in Biodefense from Johns Hopkins University. She is also a Registered Biosafety Professional with the American Biological Safety Association.
