Ivar Strand is the President of Etisk Consulting LLC, which provides holistic and comprehensive advice and guidance to all types of organizations and individuals operating within the research administration space. Taking its name from the Norwegian word for “ethical,” Etisk prides itself on its strong moral, ethical, and empowering compass and building and managing partnerships collaboratively. 

 

Ivar has extensive experience in pre and post award grants management, research compliance, technology transfer and contract management. He has in-depth knowledge of federal, state, corporate and non-profit funding agencies.  Ivar has built and lead successful research administration programs at Brookhaven National Laboratory, both campuses of Long Island University, Stony Brook University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Northwell Health and system-wide at the State University of New York.  At many of these institutions Ivar was instrumental in diversifying and growing the research portfolio and rolling out electronic platforms to enhance internal processes. 

 

Most recently, Ivar managed Brookhaven National Laboratory’s Partnership activities including the CRADA and Strategic Partnership Projects (SPP) Programs. His responsibilities include the Laboratory’s Other Federal Agency and Non-Federal SPP programs, including coordination of proposal review and approval, negotiation of contractual agreements, and interactions with the U.S. Department of Energy as required to obtain necessary approvals.

 

Ivar received a Masters of Business Administration in International Banking and Finance from Dowling College in 2001, and Bachelors of Arts degrees in both Finance and Communication (Journalism) with a Minor in English from the University of Miami in 1985.
